ZIGBEE NAVIGATOR

Robots have become important over a wide range of applications - from manufacturing, to surgery, to the handling of hazardous materials. It is important to understand how they work, and what problems exist in designing effective robots. Wireless robots are very helpful and found many advantages in applications which humans can’t perform.

The aim of the project is to develop a wireless robot which can sense dangerous gases like Methane, CO2, CO etc in places where humans can’t go. In this project we are using Zig-Bee Technology for wireless data communication. Zig-Bee modules used in this project are serial compatible and can be interfaced and communicated by the micro-controller easily. A MQ-5 Gas sensor is interfaced to the micro-controller, which can sense gases like LPG, Methane, and CO2 on calibration.

The Robot in this project is designed for movements like LEFT, RIGHT, FRONT and BACK. Here we are using Helical Gear motors for the movement control. The driver for these motors is designed using ULN 2803 high voltage, high current Darlington arrays and SPDT relays. ULN 2803 is interfaced to the micro-controller, SPDT relays are used for the direction control of the Robot. We will transmit pre-determined commands for controlling the movements of the robot from the PC through a Zig-Bee module. On receiving these commands through the Zig-Bee module the micro-controller controls the movements of the robot as per the commands defined. Here we will calibrate the Gas sensor to sense the smoke in the atmosphere. When ever there is a smoke with in the vicinity of the gas sensor the micro-controller sends an alert message to the PC
